Our Kindergarten Classroom News
September 16, 2016

Hello!  We can’t believe that it is already the middle of September!  We have already been in school 18 days!  With less than a week before fall, the temperatures are beginning the cool down quite nicely!
First of all, we have been very busy the past two weeks in kindergarten!  In Religion we focused on the Creation Story!   We have learned some fun songs about creation.  Ask your child to sing the Hippo song for you.  We also attended our first two paraliturgies of the year!  The children have been wonderful listeners during paraliturgy!   Ask your child to tell you some of the rules we have while attending paraliturgy!  In Math, we began working on numbers 0-5.   In Reading we continued working on the words “I” and “can.”  We also worked on rhyming, opposites and recognizing the entire alphabet.    Next week we will begin learning about families!
On Friday, September 30 and Friday, October 7, the students will begin NWEA/MAP testing.  These tests will be administered three times this year, fall, winter and spring.  Please make sure your kiddos get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast!  We will encourage the students to try their best but try to make it as stress free as possible!  These tests help us determine your child’s strengths as well as areas for growth!  Thanks so much!
Finally I want to remind you that I value your input as parents!  If you have questions or concerns about anything, please do not hesitate to ask!
Library is on Tuesday!  Please help your child remember to bring back  his/her books.
